Kings Fish and Chips review of the Restaurant and Takeaway, Rayleigh, Essex

Kings fish and chips

Kings fish and chips

My family and I have been going to this restaurant for many years, since it was Oldhams, because it is local to us in Benfleet. They served great fish and chips at Oldhams and it was a shame they changed. Unfortunately, since it became ‘Kings’, it has not been the same. The fish and chips are nice, but expensive for what you get, compared to other restaurants in the area, and the service has gone down.

The tables for two are tiny, but do not try to get a table for four if there are only two of you, because they won’t let you – even if the restaurant is empty.

Once, a couple of years ago, we were in there for Mother’s day and it was not busy at all, and once we got to desserts, we were told to hurry up as they were closing. Not to be rushed out, we missed desserts and I was put out as I had taken my Mum out for Mothers day to that venue.

Since then, we have been back and my parents visit regularly, but the levels of customer service have not been very high, so I will not be back myself.

If you live in Rayleigh, then it is a good local restaurant, but I would not travel to it from anywhere else!

As you will see from my other restaurant reviews, I am fair and generally do not have much bad to say, and I am loving the restaurant on Leigh Broadway, opposite Irma’s for fish and chips right now!
