Alan Williams of ‘The Rubettes’ crashes his twin engine private plane at Southend on Sea, Essex

***photos to follow when I have my download lead*** Alan Williams of ‘The Rubettes’ crashed his twin engine private plane at Southend on Sea, Essex earlier today around lunchtime.  When we got to the airport to fly out to Salisbury today his plane was nose down and stopped in the middle of the runway, surrounded by two ambulances, three fire engines and many security and other cars.  It was quite a sight.  Luckily, no-one was hurt.  The nose wheel had collapsed on landing, but we don’t know at present the cause for this.

When we went round to flight briefing, we found the man himself, what looked like his family, including children, and a few police and ambulance crew.  They all seemed pretty relaxed, but to save upset I didn’t want to ask any questions to evade their privacy.

Glad to see they are all safe, and hope this will not affect any of them in a way that will stop them from flying as it is such a great thing to do and accidents happen in every other way every day, so this is a pretty rare event.

Sandra 🙂
