Although not officially credited in the magazine, I provided the photo for the front cover of Essex Life magazine for this month’s May edition, which came out yesterday!

It has been changed a little, but looks fabulous and I am very proud of it, as it takes in virtually the whole of Mersea Island, Essex in the sunshine.

I have many more aerial and static photos of Essex, Yorkshire, Scotland, the Orkneys and other places, so if you’d like to see if I have your hometown, why not email me at: info@sandramdean.co.uk

Thank you,

Sandra :-)

Explore the history, nature and views your Country has to offer by walking. And it couldn’t be easier since the Royal Geographical Society has done all the hard work for you – all you have to do is download all the information you need from their website http://www.discoveringbritain.org get your walking boots on, and get moving… And what better time to be thinking about walking than in February. We all need to blow the cobwebs off that the winter entangles us in, and if you, like me, need to lose a few pounds but cannot do it by dieting, then getting moving is the answer. It can also help with the lack of energy we can feel by the short days of winter and lack of sunlight that we suffer.

Not only that, these walks can be done anytime, Winter or Summer, and at your own pace. Perhaps take a friend or family and enjoy the sights together. Take a camera, send photos to magazines or your Continue reading

My aerial photo service of Essex, Yorkshire and the Orkneys, Scotland are a success!

I am pleased to say that my aerial photos of Essex, Yorkshire and the Orkney Islands have been very successful.

I have now supplied to South Woodham Ferrers (Essex) Council for their website here: http://www.southwoodhamferrerstc.gov.uk/aerial-photograph . Also, The Royal Geographic Society bought one for their new project ‘Discovering Britain’ which is a series of walks that will help people to explore and discover the beauty, wildlife and landscapes of Britain. I supplied to them a photo of Two tree Island, Essex. The website is in progress so my photo and the walks are not on there yet, but do check it out soon and maybe you can discover Britain too! http://www.discoveringbritain.org

Yorkshire Life and Essex Life magazine have printed various photos and on top of that, I have sold Essex, Yorkshire and Orkney Scotland aerial photos to various private buyers, who wanted to give them as presents to loved ones. It’s a great idea as a present, birthday, Christmas or otherwise and I have supplied photos through the postal service as well as emailing j-pegs directly

I have aerial photos of many areas of Britain and my prices are well under other peoples, so if you think I might have a photo to suit, Continue reading

Eastenders filming in Southend on Sea Essex!

Whitney (Shona McGarty) and Fatboy (Ricky Norwood) on Eastenders set for August 2011 show in Southend on sea essex

Well, we all know that Southend on sea is known for its visitors from the East End, as it’s a popular beach and day trip spot, but this week the cast of ‘Eastenders’ were in town, filming clips to be aired over the August bank holiday weekend, I was told.

I saw them today (Saturday) as they filmed for most of the day along Westcliff Parade, by the Westcliff Hotel – Eastenders characters Whitney (Shona McGarty), Fatboy (Ricky Norwood), Shirley and Heather were there. It just goes to show how hard they all have to work, as they had to repeat shots/scenses time and time again.

It is about time Eastenders came to Southend as many of the residents agreed. As they left at the end of the day, I was so pleased that a very smiley Linda Henry (aka Shirley) stopped to sign a picture of herself and Cheryl Ferguson (Heather) we had in the Echo – as my Mum is a big fan. She also posed for a lovely photo with my Mum. Very nice too. Unfortunately, Cheryl was in a rush so didn’t stop but the whole thing had a good atmosphere, with plenty of ‘extra’s’ happy to talk to us as well as some of the crew. Their day can start by getting out of bed at 5am and finishing at 9pm, so the job is far from glamourous and that was easy to understand watching them today.

They will be coming back to the area to film for another couple of days, but that’s all for this week as they have been in Southend all week, staying at the Westcliff Hotel, the Roslin Hotel and others. Continue reading

Prima magazine June 2011 include my story in Depression report

Prima June 2011 issue sandra dean depression front page
Prima June 2011 issue sandra dean depression front page

In this months issue, just out, (June 2011) Prima have produced a four page special on depression and I am one of the case studies.  Unlike many other articles I have read in magazines on the subject, which make depression appear as though it were just ‘down times’ Prima have shown, through the four stories, just how debilitating and life changing depression really is.

I was touched by each story, and also that amount of campaigning and memoir writing about these tough experiences.

Every person’s story must have so much more detail to it; I certainly have.  Some people have noted that it appears my depression came on due to an event when I was fifteen, and although that was when full on depression hit me, I had signs of instability much earlier on, Continue reading
